Houston Young Lawyers Foundation Names Dave Finkel 2025 Fellow

In recognition of his exemplary commitment to Houston’s young lawyers and the cause of justice, the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation (HYLF) has nominated Hicks Johnson Associate Dave Finkel as a Class of 2025 Fellow. This distinction is bestowed annually on no more than one percent of HYLF members.

HYLF was founded in 1992 with a mission to improve the quality and availability of legal aid, health, human welfare, and education services provided by Greater Houston nonprofit organizations through targeted volunteering and grants.

Dave is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice on complex civil litigation including mass torts, products liability, business torts, and LLC member conflicts and buyouts. Before joining the firm, Dave served as a law clerk to the Honorable Timothy M. Tymkovich of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the Honorable Jeffrey V. Brown of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Galveston Division. Prior to law school, Dave served eight years as an infantry officer in the United States Army.

“I am pleased but not at all surprised to hear that Dave has been recognized by the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation for this honor,” said Hicks Johnson Managing Partner Andrew Hicks. “Dedication to service has been a core value of Dave’s throughout his career, from his military service to his current work serving our valued clients. We are proud of Dave’s accomplishments and fortunate to have him on our team.”

Since its founding in 2007, Hicks Johnson has consistently contributed time, resources, and legal services to organizations serving our communities. Through our partnership with the University of Texas School of Law Disability Rights Clinic, Hicks Johnson attorneys represent and counsel clients with disabilities in a variety of legal contexts. Members of our firm also support organizations including Texas Defender Service, Bo’s Place, the Children’s Fund, Friends of the Texas Historical Commission, Haiti through Compassion International, Houston Debate Project, the Houston Food Bank, Montrose Grace Place, Preservation Houston, Star of Hope Mission, the United Way, and others.
