Thomas handles a variety of complex commercial litigation matters, with particular experience in international and domestic arbitration, cross-border litigation, securities litigation, and complex construction and engineering disputes.

Prior to joining Hicks Johnson, Thomas worked at a large, international firm in Houston. He also served as a judicial clerk for the Hon. Ronald M. Gould of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Hon. Fernando Rodriguez Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Thomas is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and French, with conversational ability in Italian.

Notable Experience

Representative Matters

  • Represented a US tele-communications company in an international arbitration concerning a complex construction project, related to issues ranging from breach of contract to expropriation.
  • Represented a steel company based in Mexico in several breach of contract actions.
  • Represented minority shareholders in a complex international securities and breach of contract suit against a foreign state-owned energy company in federal court.
  • Represented an international company in two international arbitrations against both a foreign municipality and state, concerning among other things issues of breach of contract and construction/projects issues.
