Hicks Johnson Welcomes Associate Allison Bitz

Hicks Johnson PLLC is pleased to welcome Allison Bitz to the firm as an associate in the Chicago office.

Allison focuses her practice on complex civil litigation, including trial and appeals. Prior to joining Hicks Johnson, she was an attorney in the Office of the General Counsel — Appellate Group of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

“Allison’s experience at the SEC provides a unique perspective and an in-depth understanding of the dynamic regulatory environment our clients face,” Hicks Johnson Partner Daniel Scime said. “That combined with her significant trial and appellate background makes her a terrific addition to our team.”

In her government role, Allison served as the lead attorney representing the SEC in numerous appellate cases across the First, Second, Eighth, Ninth, and D.C. Circuit Courts, and assisted the Solicitor General’s office with Supreme Court briefing in cases implicating the SEC. Allison draws on this experience to advise and represent clients in trial and appellate proceedings involving significant legal issues and high commercial stakes.

Allison’s arrival continues Hicks Johnson’s focus on recruiting the top talent that powers winning trial teams. “Notable bench strength has always been a key factor driving our firm’s success,” Managing Partner Andy Hicks said. “We select and develop lawyers who have both keen commercial instincts and substantial trial and appellate experience. Our clients know they can depend on our team to deliver favorable outcomes on their toughest cases because we have the talent and experience to get the job done.”

Hicks Johnson has continued to build its team throughout 2025, adding Senior Counsel Jordan Hill and Senior Counsel Corbin Houston to its Chicago office in June and promoting Lori Arakaki and Daniel Scime to the firm’s partnership in January.

Earlier in her career, Allison served as a law clerk to the Honorable William Conley of the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin. She earned her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and her B.A. in economics, philosophy, and Arabic from Marquette University.
